The Music Copyright Society of China (MCSC), cofounded by the National Copyright Administration of China and the Musician Association of China in 1992, is now the only management organization for copyright of music in Mainland China. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to the lawful rights and interests of composers, lyricists, and other copyright owners of music.
In 2016, Z&T Law Firm became the partnership law firm in charge of MCSC's litigation efforts concerning copyrights in South China. During 2016 and 2017, in response to unauthorized use of musical works by some provincial and municipal level broadcasting stations and television stations in Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan, Z&T conducted lawsuits to protect copyrights, which resulted in successful outcomes. Since 2018, Z&T Law Firm has deepened cooperation with MCSC, paid close attention to the latest developments in the domestic music industry, and worked to actively protect copyrights through litigation against unauthorized use of musical works in domestic online music platforms, achieving remarkable results and thus, effectively safeguarding the lawful rights of the copyright owners of music.
