On the morning of September 28, 2018, the Guangzhou Court of the Internet (GCI) was officially established. The office is located on the 48th to 63rd floor of the Global Trade Center, No. 148 Xingang East Road, Haizhu District, in an area where Guangzhou Internet companies cluster. According to the Provisions on the Jurisdiction of Guangzhou Court of the Internet issued by the Higher People's Court of Guangdong Province, the GCI has jurisdiction over 11 types of internet-related cases that used to be accepted by the basic people's court within the jurisdiction of Guangzhou, including disputes arising from signing or performance of network purchase contracts through e-commerce platforms; disputes over network service contracts concluded and performed on the Internet; disputes over financial loan contracts or small loan contracts which are signed and performed on the Internet; disputes over the ownership of copyright or neighboring rights in a work first published on the Internet. Appeals or protests against a judgment or ruling made by the GCI will be heard by the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court or the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court.
